  1. Well it really depends on what settings you use. Assuming you use VGA@ 30fps and that the formatted capacity of a 4GB memory card is around 3.75GB, you might get about half an hour. Switch that to 15fps and you might get around an hour or so. Use QVGA (320x240) @ 15fps and you actually might get around 3 hours of recording time. Here's my suggestion: don't use your digital camera to record your 3 hour long PPV event. If you have a VCR, use that. Assuming that the memory card could hold 3 hours of footage, what's to say the battery will hold out for that long? Not to mention the mic is horrible compared to the average mic on an average consumer camera, which is also horrible, but less so. It's a great camera for taking pictures, but if your friend has a video camera that they can connect to their laptop, use that instead and record directly to the computer. Otherwise stick with the proven technology that is VHS (that is, I'm assuming you don't have a DVR or a DVD recorder so that's why you're asking this question). Hope this helps!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I own a Canon IXUS 800 which is almost identical to the camera you're talking about.

  2. it looks like it will work but before trying it on a long show try it on a short show with commericals and see how long it works
