i took out my guinea pig in the morning to let it have fun and while i was asleep my guinea pig was in my backyard and it was attacked by flies and got fly strike. fly strike can happen within 8 hours and kill the guinea pig instantly and i woke up to see him in pain. i instantly looked up and saw that he had fly strike and what i could do as first aid and then i found out that he need vet attention immediately, i currently had no money for a vet and no one else did and it costed $350 but my dad did but he was at work and i couldnt contact him cuz he had no cel and he comes home at 8pm so i cleaned up as much as i could by washing the area with water but it didnt change much, then i saw the a person from the humane center come at around 2am and she said she wanted to see it so i showed her it and instead of picking up the animal properly and bringing it to a vet she grabbed it by its back yanked it and picked it up like it was an object in fact it squealed in pain. she then went in van and supposedly went to the vet to save it but she came back to tell me it died in her van but the guinea pig is supposed to be ok for another 48 hours with the illness which means her inability to hold the guinea pig properly had killed it. she instantly blamed me and told me that i HAD to surrender my other pet because of "animal cruelty" and i asked her what she would've done in my position and she said "i would've plucked the things off with my hands" then i told her about how i used water and cleaned him up and i asked again but she didnt answer and started looking at my bunny. i asked her if i surrendered my pet what would happen and she said "it will go to the pound" and i said what if it doesnt get adopted and she said "it will get adopted" but i knew that if it doesnt it gets put down so she was obviously lying then she told me that i could never have a pet again even though i had nothing in my power to do anything and that she killed my guinea pig, out of curiousity is this legal?

  1. THIS IS NOT LEGAL I WOULD OF CALLED THE POLICE AINT NO ONE TAKING MY RABBIT ITS YOUR PROPERTY ITS LIKE SOMEONE TAKING YOUR COMPUTER

  2. First things first.  Who called her?  Why was she at your house?  You seem to be young so why were you dealing with her in the first place?  How does she know you have a rabbit?  For the most part, if an animal control person finds that an animal is being mistreated, they can take the others but, if you have a healthy animal I don't see how this can be an issue.

Future lesson:  Don't open the door to strangers and don't give anymore information to people than necessary

  3. First of all, you really shouldn't make accusations of the woman killing your rabbit.. Like you said he looked like he was in a lot of pain, the van ride itself may have just been too stressful for him.

I'm sorry about your guinea pig, but it wasn't smart to let him run around out of the cage with no supervision...

The humane society worker can use that against you in court, and the judge may decide you are not fit to take care of pets.

  4. Don't let anyone into the house without a valid, legal warrant.

Don't surrender your animal. If someone comes with a warrant to take it, then you'll have no choice, but do not give it up without a legal order requiring you to do so.

I'd also file a complaint with this woman with her supervisor.

And talk to your father about how to contact him in an emergency. What if it had been you that was ill and in need of medical care, and not your guinea pig? It's important to be able to reach an adult at all times.

  5. OMG!!! I'm sorry about your GP's death & I wouldn't hand over the rabbit....they will kill it too!!!

    I hope it's NOT legal
