    A lot of things that people used to attribute to demon possessions happen in psychiatric hospitals. People thrashing, swearing, hurting themselves, all of that.

    And it calms down with the right medication!

    Emily Rose is fictitious but based on a real person with psychiatric problems.

  5. I have to agree with the last answer.  People with certain kinds of mental illness can exhibit these behaviors.  It's not anything new.  Before modern psychiatry, people tried to explain unknown and scary behaviors by calling it demon possession.

    Thank goodness we know better now, so that people can get the help they need through medication or therapy.
