Should one want to avoid the night trains, I see that there is a train from Bangarpet during the day. How easy is it to get to Bangarpet from Bengaluru by car?

Alternatively, Kingfisher and Jet both have a flight leaving early in the morning, as far as I can make out from the Internet. Any experiences with these flights?

Also, how is the road? How much of it is part of the GQ or the NH system? Is it worth taking the road?

  2. There is an Intercity express leaving around 6:15am (please check the timings). This train goes to Coimbatore from Bangalore. This train goes via Salem. Get Down at Salem Junction. It takes around 3:45hours to go to Salem from Bangalore. From Salem Railway station to the Bus stand you can take an auto (max of 40 bucks). There are buses to Karur from Salem almost every other minute. It takes 2 hours from Salem to Karur via road.  You can take Buses that goes to Madurai/Dindugal and other souther cities. Both Government and Private buses are available. (Buses from Salem to Karur are not like the Omini/volvo buses).

Via Road, The whole stretch from Bangalore to Karur is NH7. I guess till Salem from Bangalore its almost divided lanes. There are KPN and other private buses that operate during the daytime too.

Flights: I am not sure whether there are direct flights to Karur.

    Hope this helps
