  1. You got the right Idea lol. Russia wants it's old territory back in short, and its old territory does not share the sentiment.

  2. At least my understanding of the whole thing... your first one.  Georgia attack Georgian rebels inside Georgia.  Just so happens those rebels are close friends with mother Russia.  Russia has no reason to feel threatened by Georgia... as indicated by smashing them.  Kind of think of Georgia as "practice" for something bigger.

edit.  Georgia attacked South Osettia (which is territorily part of Georgia - same goes for the other province), not North Osettia, which is part of Russia.

  3. If you've just been looking at TV news, you wouldn't have it right. They've been outright lying like they do on most things. Georgia attacked Osettia to get the oil pipeline and didn't think Russia would do anything. Osettia is a part of Russia and used to be a part of Georgia who seceded from Russia.

  4. You are right

"The crisis began when Georgia attacked South Ossetia on 7 August, sparking Russian retaliation. Scores of people have died in the fighting"

read the last line of this report.

We are being lied to by Bush and the new world order once again......

THey create the crises and then offer the solution, and blame Russia when the puppet state of Georgia was used to attack them first.....

It's crucial people realise this and expose the lies or were headed ww3.

  5. Russia was looking for an excuse to attack Georgia and they provoked Georgians into attacking rebel provinces.

  6. Precisely!

Georgia defende its teritory after an uprising led by Russians. Russia generated this!

You might want to read the news:

  7. no, u got it wrong

man its so cute when other people tell me wht russians want :)

  8. South Ossetia is not part of Russia, you are WRONG. It is a rebel province.

It seems more and more likely that Russia is not going to pull out of Georgia... another cold war is brewing.

  9. Yes, the Georgians attacked rebels knowing it would upset the Russians.  But they assumed the US would help them because they had troops in Iraq.  I don't think Russians feel "threatened" as such, but they're trying to sort it out.  Bush should stay well away from this one - it's none of his business.

Let's face it - if the Russians wanted to take over Georgia they'd have done it long ago and declared it a Russian province.  And the best response against them would have been some criticism from the UN and maybe trade sanctions.

  10. Dakka-dakka-dakka! Blam-blam-blam! BOOM! Blam-blam-blam!..

That's all you need to know, there has always been war and bloodshed in the Caucuses and there always will be - it's what they do.

  11. No.

The Russian government had been planning this for months.

The Russian Government had massed troops and tanks for months in preparation for the invasion of Georgia.

  12. No.  I expect you should leave foreign policy to people with better grammar and spelling.

  13. George Bush thought that Russia had attacked the American State of Georgia and was all set to defend Atlanta!

  14. You have it very wrong. Georgia attacked Russian peacekeepers in a disputed zone and then commenced shelling and shooting civilians who were taking no active part in hostilities, under the Geneva Convention this falls under the heading 'Crimes against humanity'. Russia intervened to protect said civilians and in the process suffered casualties. This isnt any different to UN, NATO and other Western interventions in Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Iraq, Kuwait, Afganistan and Haiti to name but a few

  15. Georgia attacked first and tried to take back a small part of Georgia which broke away and wanted to be under Russian rule. Then russia went in to protect their country, and drive the georgians back. That is it in a nutshell
