Okay, I live in the desert, and in Summertime it's about 110'f a day. So I have trouble sleeping at night because it is so hot. I always have the fan on as high as it can go and the AC. One night I was hanging out in my room and didn't realize the fan was off, and went to bed and it was off and I saw but I was too lazy to get up and turn it on. Well without the fan on I felt perfect, not too hot or too cold and I went to sleep right away. I tried it again and it work. Why did this happen?

  1. The fan may have have circulated the hot air around.  You may also have slept better without the noise.  Sometimes the fan makes me feel congested but the ac doesn't.

  2. Cooler air tends to settle near the floor.  By running the fan you were stirring the air and moving the warmer air from the ceiling area throughout the room.
