This employment agency asked for a VOID cheque and provided me with interview, skills testing test, and sending my resume to a potential client.

If you put the word "VOID" on the cheque, can they still do anything? Like scamming out money or something from your bank account?

  1. Is this something you are paying them for? If so, by giving them your voided check you are giving them your account information at your bank. They can debit your account with that information and say you gave them permission b/c you gave them a voided check. Read all the fine print.

  2. Yes, that is fine.

  3. It's okay, they use it to make direct deposits into your account..

Just be sure to include "DEPOSIT ONLY" clearly on some section on the cheque so the bank knows not to allow them any further privileges.

  4. Why do they want it?

If they plan to debit or credit your account, they could do it with that.

No, an employment agency should not get a copy of your bank information unless you have authorized them to take money from your account.

I think I would find another agency.

  5. yeah...its void, they cant do anything to it

  6. They may be using it for credit checks or something of that sort.  Other than disclosing your bank account number to them, they cannot do anything with a void check./
