This happened as I was dreaming: Is it regular?

I swear, in a dream, I was being chased by someone, and I knew that this was a bad dream, was totally aware of it, and then, randomly, my dream-self was gone, and I was watching Silas the Evil Monk from the Da Vinci Code search for me in a museum. When he left, my dream-self popped out of a secret cabinet in a wall.

If I begin to have a bad dream, I usually can either change the course of it, switch to a different dream completely, or just sit up for a minute, then fall back asleep. If I can't do any of those things, like, am stuck in the dream, I just convince myself that it is only a dream, and it will be over whenever I wake up.

Dreams are things that happen in seconds, then replay for hours, right? So, whenever I realize I'm dreaming, I have already done this a couple times at least, and, maybe, am not asleep as I should be. I don't know.

  1. It's called lucid dreaming- when you become aware that you are dreaming. A pretty cool thing.

  2. A famous author puts it like this; When we wake up in the morning, the night's dream dissolves, and we say "oh , it was only a dream. It was real otherwise it could not be. When death approaches, we may look back on our life and wonder if it was just another dream. Even now you may look back on last year's vacation or yesterday's drama and see that it is very similar to last night's dram.

There is the dream, and there is the dreamer of the dream. The dream is a short-lived play of forms. It is the world- relatively real but not absolutely real. Then there is the dreamer, the absolute reality in which the forms come and go. The dreamer is not the person. The person is part of the dream. The dreamer is the substratum in which the dream appears, that which makes the dream possible. It is the absolute behind the relative, the timeless behind time, the consciousness in and behind form. The dreamer is consciousness itself-who you are.

to awaken within the dream is our purpose now. When we awake within the dream, the ego-created earth-drama comes to an end and more benign and wondrous dream arises. This is a new earth.

  3. Ive had some strange dreams and i'm still here... :)

  4. Dreams are weird things because in them anything goes. They don't mean anything like some dream interpreters would have you believe. They are just a way of processing the day so we can start fresh the next day. They are very symbolic and metaphoric, but they don't mean anything. I've never heard of anyone having some control over their dreams. Maybe that is just part of the dream, i.e. you are dreaming that you have control.

As far as your sleep goes, don't even think about it. If you worry about not getting enough, you probably won't. You'll know by the way you feel during the day.

I think your your dreaming is pretty regular, you just remember a lot of it. Your not so weird. Hope you do well in school.

  5. You're a lucid dreamer. Lucky. It's when you can take full control of what happens in your dream. Some people are training themselves to do it and others can just do it naturally. I guess you're just natural. Don't worry it has nothing to do with your sleeping habits. It just means you're lucky. =D
