This happened to me at work some lady thinks that I told her she needed to donate to a Charity....?

or one of her children would die. I honestly did not say this to her. Its a horrible thing to say even if your joking. Anyway her husband came by later that week and said the same thing again. I honestly didn't say this. Any ideas of what I should do. Should I quit my job? I need some advice. Ps sorry for misspellings Im not the best speller. Thank you once again I didnt say this to this lady. And it really did happen

Appologize for the misunderstanding even if it was not your fault and tell her you hope all her children will have a very long very blessed life.   Think back to any conversation you had w/her about charity or children.  Did you by any chance say anything even remotely like  I would feel bad if it was one of my children sick or dying wouldn't you?    If so maybe you can clarify that you were expressing your concern for parents in that circumstance or kids in that circumstance not threatening her child,.

If she is very superstitious make a small donation to a charity yourself in honor of her children.  This should be totally unnecessary but may help keep peace.

If it persists talk with your supervisor.
