  1. Union Pacific by far

  2. Union Pacific

  3. Good one, ask another ????

  4. Well, it depends on which way you mean they're bigger? Locomotives? Employees? Tracks?

    BNSF: 6,300 locomotives owned

                40,000 employees

                32,000 miles of BNSF-owned trackage

220,000 cars on the system average

    UP: 8,000 locomotives owned

           50,000 employees

           32,400 miles of UP-owned trackage

           107,000 cars (Owned)

As you can see, the total amount of track skims very close.

I was very surprised to see that UP owns nearly 2000 more locomotives than BNSF, due to the ATSF-BN merger

  5. I'll guess UP is at the top of the heap, if not at the bottom of the pile.

They acquired lots of large properties, if not the most, including the SP (which had already merged with the D&RGW during Pillip Anschutz's corporate raiding) which was as nearly as large as the UP itself at the time of the purchase.

  6. Unfortunately Union Pacific! but only by about 3,000 miles of track. but as an employee of BNSF I know the company is a better that UP!   They say, you can't spell stUPid without UP!

  7. BNSF according to the SEC records

    Bigger, more mergers...

  8. I think Union Pacific.

  9. Def. Union Pacific
