This has been bugging me, why is it some players after they make an out take off their helmet and go?

down the dugout steps into the clubhouse? I watched the Astros game tonight and Hunter Pence did this and Griffey did it last night. What do they do when they leave the dugout? Thanks!!

If you're Troy Tulowitzky you take a bat and splinter it all over your throwing hand. I prefer the classy guys who just take the Gatorade cooler from the dugout and throw it out to 1st base or take the bullpen phone and throw it at the hitting coach or something.

Sometimes, they go down to relieve themselves.  Unlike ManRam who goes into the Green Monster and urinates there and it doesnt matter that there is no bathroom there mind you.  He also goes in there to make phone calls.

Theres a plethora of reason why they would go down there.  They might want to view the video of their recent at bat to see if the pitch was a ball or a strike.  I didnt see the Houston game so I dont know what they would have been looking for.  Maybe a quick phone call, or the bathroom.  

Now if you were talking about the Yankee game this afternoon, who knows what they would be looking for down there.  Maybe a shot or two, hmm.  Maybe some clear or creme or maybe just to cycle and stack.  You never know.

sumtimes it might be cause they want to check how their swing looked  on video and they try to improve it on their next at bat.
