Proposition (for that)

so stuff like: using the toll on the public as blackmail

it is essential services (not just tube - firemen, emergency services) etc so people could die

they are already overpaid (some figures would help)

does anyone know how much (stats) people go on strike?

Thanks loads

  1. In my profession we have not been on strike since 1985.

It really does not happen very often.

Taking away the threat of strikes would severely weaken labor's position, and big companies are notoriously heartless so they need the threat of losing a small bit of their income as an incentive for at least pretending to talk in good faith.

Most strikes are NOT over wages but working conditions, for instance last time Boeing employees went on strike it was over health care.

Right now int he health care industry one of their number one priorities is forced overtime. Personally I dont want a nurse on my case that is being forced to work a 16 hour shift.

What are essential services by the way? A lot of people claim "essential services" when it is merely convenience.

Certainly law enforcement and health professionals but I dont even think we should take their right to strike away.

  2. shouldn't this be in politics ?

  3. Right little Hitler aren't you.

All workers should have the ultimate right to withdraw their labour; otherwise we have a dictatorship

  4. ????????????????????????????????????????...

  5. You're pretty funny.  You state these workers are overpaid, then ask for stats to back up your claim.  What you have here is conjecture and opinion.

Many public employees go for years without contracts as negotiations proceed and only strike when it's gotten to a breaking point in the contract negotiations.

I'll tell you what.  Next time you hear of a fire in your neighborhood, get in the building before it turns into an inferno.  Wait patiently while the flames reach dangerously high, oxygen levels drop and temperatures reach a point where you could be cooked in a matter of minutes.  Then start screaming like a little girl.  When that fireman pulls you out and gives you his oxygen mask while he carries you to safety, you reconsider whether that hero is overpaid...
