The first dream was a month ago and I don't remember what happened exactly in the dream but at the very end (like I was about to wake up) I couldn't wake up....in my dream I can hear my dad preparing to leave for work and I want to so bad to call out his name to come help me. My body was like paralyzed and I couldn't even say a word! In the dream I tried my hardest to wake up and finally I did and right when I woke up, I heard the door closed so I know my dad really was about to leave! Earlier this afternoon I had the same dream. It was ALSO near the very end when I was about to wake up. I was sleeping on the couch so I can still remember my mom watching her favorite TV show. I couldn't budge and I know I was nearly waking up in that dream! Wtf...i'm so scared now. I had to literally fight, push and kick myself off the couch IN THE DREAM to wake up! I cried so hard after I woke up and what if that happened again to me? What if I really couldn't wake up next time!? How in the world can I be in a dream that I know I was dreaming!?

I just want to clear a few things up. I don't live in this house often. I'm really here just to visit my father (mom and dad divorced). Is there something wrong with this house..?

  1. You usually can not move in dreams, because your body is sleeping. That is common nothing to worry about. I have heard and I have tried this. If your in the dream try making yourself spin around mentally. I have tried this and if your mentally able you can take control of the dream at that point. Hope it helps.

  2. When you have been asleep for a certain amount of time and you begin entering the point at which you dream, your body enters a type of paralysis, this is an adaptation that is there to help prevent you from acting out your dreams in the external environment. There is a commonly written of dream mentioned a lot historically, by people today and even by myself once where one experiences having a large heavy object sitting on one's chest and preventing movement this usually occurs shortly before waking as well. It's just the paralysis and the commonality of that dream in various forms (many have said the object was a demon) is probably explained by conscious explanation for the apparent paralysis entering into the dream, just as how sometimes you're dreaming that you can hear an alarm clock and can't find it to turn it off and when you wake up your alarm is ringing.

The awareness of the dream itself is not uncommon it is called lucid dreaming, I get them quite a lot actually which is a little strange because I understand they are supposed to be pretty infrequent, though it happens to me a lot less than it did when I was quite young (about 14-16). In fact, you can sometimes gain awareness of the dream and stay asleep (usually you just wake up) and manipulate the surroundings and exert control on the dream, I've managed this a few times and it is a lot of fun though most of the time I am simply aware that it is a dream but am still not able to actually change anything. The mental spinning technique that someone mentioned before is indeed very useful because if you realise you're dreaming and you feel as though you're going to wake up you can spin in your dream and somehow the disorientation seems to kind of whirl you back into a stable dream state. I have no idea how it is that works and spinning in a dream for me at least seems to be much more dizzying and freaky than spinning in real life. A few people have written about lucid dreaming and have developed similar mental techniques to try and induce it, I can't vouch for the efficacy and I definitely wouldn't waste your money on the stupid products that many offer to sell you to help induce lucid dreaming. Anyway it's normal lest you worry.

  3. i don't really know what to tell you but i have dreams that in the dream i was dreaming and i couldn't move and it was freaky. i have lived through them so i expect you will to.tmm

ps bad family relationships work on a kids mind; not all to the good.

  4. At the end of the dream you brain frequency moves too fast from dream state to awake state. You want to get up but it takes some time to switch on.Try not to wake up, or you will stay normal than natural in the middle state.

  5. There is nothing to worry about. You are not who you once were. Your body has been taken over by an alien from outer space. Your alien psyche is not used to this thing we humans call sleep. You will get used to it. Dont tell your parents your an alien, this will just freak them out.
