This is SO frustrating...please help me?

I can't put videos on my iPod. They are already in mp4 format, and when I try to drag into the Videos section on my iPod, this message pops up: "(Name of video) was not copied to the iPod "user's iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod." It's the new nano. Please tell me what to do, I'm kinda desperate now!
