Giants’ batters and pitchers hammered the Tigers and won in style.
Barry Zito started the game for the Giants and proved too good for the Tigers' hitters.
He allowed only one run and six hits on his consistent 1.59 ERA. He pitched in right areas and kept the Tigers’ batters at bay during his spell.
“I think we played all rightWe had five days off. I was thinking it's going to be a little tougher, about routine plays, about playing the game right,” Miguel Cabrera said.
He added, “But it was all right. To this point, we have to give a lot of credit to San Francisco, because they were aggressive -- they swung early in the game and they scored a lot of runs early. I think we did everything to win the game, but they played better. They hit better."
Along with Giants’ starter, their relief pitchers also did well on the mound and played with big energy.
Relief pitcher Tim Lincecum pitched 2.1 innings and struck-out five exceptional Tigers' batters. He played intelligently and did not receive any hits or runs.
