Question:

This is a gross question, so if you don't mind, could you tell me possible causes of these symptoms?

It hurts really bad to poo, like burning in particular spots. Blood (bright red) in my stool. Often lots of clear mucus in it. It is in weird shapes and colors, like a long line of clusters and strange colors, not the normal brown. All of this has been going on about a month, off and on, but more days it is like this than not. Thanks for any help. (And I know I need to see a doc but I just needed some ideas about what this might be and I can research it a little)

  1. i think, but im not for sure, but blood in the stool is supposed to be dark, almost black in color.....u could have a bowel infection, or a stomach infection of some sort.........do u eat foods that are really spicy?coffee? that could upset your stomach, i would try to regulate your digestive system.

edit:  oh my bad, that's why i said i wasn't for sure about the color.  sry, i was tryna help!

  2. Blood could be from hemorrhoids.  Mucus could be from irritable bowel syndrome.  Yeah, you do need to see a doc.

  3. Hemmorhoids..but...it might be some irriatable bowels, ulcers maybe..Does it itch or burn down there?

  4. The blood could be caused from fistulas (sores or tears inside the bowel, the blood should be bright red for this or hemorrhoids) Fistulas will also cause burning cause you are tearing a scab off a sore and raw f***s is running over the sore which would cause the burning.Mucus could come from IBS, I had IBS for many, many years. Change of color from foods or drinks you are consuming. You need to see a Dr. about this.

Toolgirl: Dark red blood in the bowels is VERY serious. It means the blood is coming from somewhere higher up in the body such as stomach, intestines, or even a sign of cancer. Anytime you see dark red blood Get to a Hospital, something serious is wrong.

  5. u might have hemroids

  6. I have irritable bowel syndrom and get mucus but I don't think that would be it because it doesn't cause blood unless you are having consitpation and very large stools. I had a internal hemorrhoid and there was blood involved. If there is something on the outside you could get preparation h for some quick relief. You should get to a doctor soon to rule out other possibilities. Good Luck!

  7. Blood should not be in your stool.  Start by seeing your doctor.  You should not be in pain when you "poo".  There are many reasons why there is blood and mucus in your stool and the only way to find out is by seeing your doctor or a specialist that your doctor refers you to.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

I won't try to give you any ideas of what may be wrong.  I'd rather you find out for sure from your doctor.
