This is just the worst!!!

Please keep in mind my house is very clean (so of course this sorta thing would just have to happen to me!!!) I was vacuming rugs in my mud room where our garbadge is my daughter was playing with onions from the pantry. The phone rang it was my sis. In the meantime i started sweaping dirt off the linoleum tried to puch her away from said pile of dirt. She sat down in dirt....and grabbed what i thought was a small peice of maccaroni. I said ohhh (babys name) sooo yucky and thats when i realized she was sitting in a pile of FREAKIN MAGGOTS!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhh I was in horror. I still have no idea where they came from i have tore my mud room apart garbadge, washer, freezer coat rack...everything. My sister said to wash her mouth out...to which she just swallowed shes 10 months old afterall and has no idea how to spit. My question is will this harm her. My sister said to call her doc...but i am mortified. please let me know thank you

  1. I am sure that they came from your trash.Yes it is gross but don't worry she will be fine.

  2. i think she'll be ok...but just to ease my mind i would call the doctor.....so...you do that....good luck....and ewww that was creepy....

  3. "Mud room" is just a name.  In some houses in the northeast, the back door or a side door opened into a small room.  Coats were hung here, boots were kept here.  Anything being brought in from outside could be left here, if it was dirty.  Sometimes these rooms have a sink.

Here in the south, the "mud room" is most likely going to be the room where the washer and dryer are located.  It's typically off the kitchen.  It may open into the garage or carport, the back yard, the side yard.  In my parents' old house, entering from the carport put you into our mud room.  The washer and dryer were on the left.  Directly ahead was another door that opened into the back yard.  On the right was the door into the kitchen.

So that's a mud room.  Just a name for a room where you might leave an umbrella or a muddy pair of boots or those jeans covered with the grass you just mowed.

  4. Don't keep the mud room. Linoleum it.

  5. People in Africa would kill for those maggots.

    She'll be alright.

  6. Oh dear.... I would be horrifed too!!!

Well on a positive note... I don't believe those will hurt your baby... I know my brother used to eat earwigs all the time when we were kids... I ate roleypoleys... lol.

It's gross to think about, no doubt.... but bugs are really good protein..... Just keep your eye on her, and if anything seems weird to you, call the doc... but in my opinion she will be just fine. Good luck!!!

  8. Wow that's really disgusting and really tough to deal with but no I don't beleive they will harm her afterall we swallow 5 spiders every year.

  9. Is this a joke?  I'm confused.  I may be a complete idiot here but I don't know what a mud room is.  Please explain.  Maybe an onion rolled under something and just got lost for a long  time and rotted.  She's probably going to be fine but a call to her doctor probably wouldn't hurt. I would think her stomach acid would kill the maggots but call to be sure.

  10. hmm im curious what a mud room is too? is it like a closed in porch or something? anyways...dont worry..that doesnt mean your house is gross or anything. creepy crawlies can always find there way inside. i dont think it will hurt her considering ive seen survivor man eat them on tv. and usually the acid in your stomach will kill anything almost as soon as you swallow it. i would ask the doc just to make sure but dont panic and worry too much...im sure shes not the first baby to swallow something icky like that. goodluck
