This is a question about Gilmore Girls?

I was flipping through the channels and I got on Gilmore Girls it was where they were having a town meeting and this guy (Kurt, I think) kept going this is my girlfriend, my girlfriend would like that, there's a seat behind my girlfriend. What I'm asking is why he kept saying that?

I am not a huge fan of that show and I didn't see anything before so I just wanna know!

He wants everyone to know that he has a girlfriend because throughout  the whole show he's a big loser and he's excited someone actually likes him.

He's trying to rub in the fact that he finally has a girlfriend,since he's not exactly the "Ladies Man" of the show!
