  1. Well Ziggie what you are looking for most likely isn't on the Internet, as hard as it is to believe with all the c**p that's on here I think this is something you'll probably find in someone's private photo collection, ie. old photos or post cards.

Another idea would be to inquire about old photos of this railroad branch at the many local libraries in area, you may find that some of them might actually have a few photos of what you are looking for. I did find information that listed the mines in that area, so I'll post that link.

Scroll down toward the bottom of the page, you should see it there, as it starts with Grindstone (Colonial No. 4), Jefferson Twp., Fayette Co., Pa. and continues with the listings of a Coke Works along with a Shaft Mine.

I also found a link and posted it below to a Pennsylvania Railroad discussion board where someone else was asking the same question as you basically, a member replied and said that they had varied information on the Redstone branch.

So it's possible they might have what you are looking for or be able to steer you in the right direction for finding photos.

You most likely don't need this because I figure you already know but I also included a link from Wikipedia about the Monongahela Railway, mainly because it does mention the Redstone branch in it.

I've been in that area before and it has some nice scenery there don't you think? Have you ever seen the old steel railroad bridge from I-70 that goes over the Monongahela River between I believe it's the Brownsville and Speers exits?

Well, good luck in your quest of finding photos.

    Have a nice day.
