This is a really vile question, so serious helpers please!?

I'm on here, answering questions to ttry and distract myself from what's going on with this body!

For a few days, I've had on and off diarrhea, which I ust assumed is normal for this stage of pregnancy, BUT this morning I have terrible diarrhea cramps, tried to go to the toilet to 'let it all out' and it wouldn't! I'm now in agony!

I feel nauseous, AND my stomach is going hard, but once again I thought this was all normal, braxton hicks etc.

But I am starting to get a bit weary, as these 'cramps' in my tummy are really starting to get bad, and with each cramp I feel the urge to either throw up, or um, go number 2.

Should I risk the 50 minute drive to the ER? Doctor is quite inconveniently unavailable right now (11am, what the h**l!), as is my GP!

  1. That sounds like labor to me! Or atleast that's how I felt. I would go to the E.R. worst case senario---you get sent home. Better safe than sorry!

Also, feeling like you're going to throw up is a good sign it's labor. I felt naseous the whole time I was pushing and then I did throw up. Throwing up sucked, but it was such a strong movement in my abdomen from vomiting that it was actually what finally pushed my son out.

  2. I think you should definitely go to the ER, but call a nearby friend and have her drive you. Since you're almost nine months, I would go with your instinct and call in. Go Mama Go!!!!

  3. phone your er they may send some one to you .

  4. Well, since your doctor is unavailable, I would go to the ER then... and then I would royally chew out my doctor if I were you!

    Good luck!

  5. I would definitely go to the ER, just to be safe.  Even if its nothing more than a yucky stomach bug, you could become very dehydrated very quick.

Thinking of you and hoping for the best!

  6. Go to the Doctor! As far along as you are, you may have started early contractions.  Or there maybe something else totally wrong.  They will hook you up to a heart monitor to check the status of you and your baby.  There is also a possibility of a miscarriage at this late stage.  Too many bad things can occur.  Get to the doctor immediately!

    *Best wishes to you.  :)

  7. Go with your gut.  How far along are you?  If you really are worried and can't get ahold of your doctor, go to the emergency room.  Could you have someone else drive you?

  8. Did you know that a stomach virus can put you into early labor? I didn't until it got so bad I called an ambulance to myself and found out I had food poison when I got to the ER. I think you should go because you never know what could be going on. And if you feel the urge to poo during contraction, that could be actual contractions.

  9. If you call the hospital they should be able to give you answers. I would probably risk the 50 minute drive if you're having any suspicions. I wouldn't want to risk going into labor or anything alone and 50 miles away from a hospital. If your doctor is unavailable, a nurse or another doctor in his or her practise should also be able to answer any questions you have.

  10. Well, since you're about 36 weeks along, I would start timing these "cramps" and see if there is any rythem to them.  If they're getting closer together, that's labor contractions.  If they're sporadic, then they're just Braxton Hicks.

As for the diarrhea, it sounds like your body is getting ready for labor.  Many pregnant women have diarrhea a couple days to a few hours before they go into labor.  It's your body's way of cleansing itself before the delivery.

If you begin contracting rythematically, get a friend to take you to the hospital.  Don't drive yourself!!!  No need to risk it!  Best wishes!

  11. It sounds like you're going into labor. You should get to the hospital, especially since its almost an hour drive.

  12. If you are not able to get a hold of your obstetrician, then yes you should go to the ER. The muscles that help push the baby out are the same muscles that tell you to push when going to the bathroom. The fact that your bowels are emptying and you have cramps indicates that you are likely in labor. Nausea and diarrhea are both indications of labor. Although many women don't go through those, many women do.

Congratulations! Even if it isn't labor now - it will be in the next few weeks... but it sounds like now.

  13. Go to the ER. They at least have the necessary things to kep the baby sanitary and clean and all that. It woul dbe better than giving birth  at home(cause it really does sound like you are in labor.)

  14. If you are really concerned I would go! Better safe than sorry.

  15. With my 3rd child I felt this way about 2 weeks before I started having regular contractions. I thought I was dying, I woke up in the night with it. I actually laid a towel down on the bathroom floor and tried to sleep a little in there between bouts of sickness. I got better after a little bit, but if you continue to feel awful, then you should get someone to take you to the ER. Don't take yourself.

  16. This is exactly how I felt when I was in labor.  I just thought I was sick.  I would definitely drive to the hospital just to make sure.  Good luck honey!!!

  17. are you sure its not contractions? that sounds like what mine felt like and diarreah is a common sign of the start of labor...start to time these "cramps" and if they come regularly go to the ER! good luck

  18. your the only one who knows how you are feeling if you really think something is wrong I would go to the doctor..maybe you just have some kind of bug

  19. yes i would go. You may be dehydrated which would cause the diarrhea and also could make you start going into labor. If that is the case then they will know at the hospital and will hook you up to IVs and stop the contractions. Also if its not that, then you could have eating something bad. This could also be harmful because there are different bacterias that pregnant women can get and in a normal person it wont hurt them but with the baby it could cause serious complications.

  20. I would deffinatly drive 50 mins to the hospital to help my baby!!!

I don't know how far along you are but no unless your in labour agnoy is not normal in pregnancy, you could have an irriated bowl or you could be going into labour early in which case why wouldn't you drive 50 mins to save your bub??
