At a fancy restaurant when paying with a debit/credit card, do you sign both copies of the receipt ( restaurant copy and guest copy) or just the restaurant copy and keep the guest copy for yourself?

Just curious.

  1. You sign one copy for the restaurant, the unsigned copy is what you keep as your receipt.

  2. I only sign the restaurant copy however; I do make sure that I have the total including the tip and I also notate the names of those attending with me on my copy.... I do this for tax's and reimbursement...

If this is personal and not business I skip putting the names on the receipt.

  3. Just the restaurant copy. BUT circle the total. That way the waitress, or whomever, cannot add a tip on. That is starting to become an occurance with restaurants. Just to be on the safe side!!!

  4. You don't necessarily have to sign the guest copy since you should be are taking it with you.

  5. Just the copy the restaurant keeps.
