This is kind of hard to believe but I went on vacation and when i got home, there was brown t**d smeared all over the side of my house - how did anyone get it on there and how should I get it off?

try getting it off with a pressure washer.

your guess is as good as mine about how it go on there, maybe someone was driving by flinging turds??

Kind of a cruel practical joke maybe. Or vandalism. Whatever the reason it was a stupid thing to do. If you don't have a power washer try a mop and a good disinfectant cleaning solution.
