This is a sort of big question, so only answer it if you have time?

I need a full list of parts you'd need to buy if you were constructing an engine from a bare block; basically, I need a full list of parts in an engine, besides the block; I know a lot, but I don't want to accidentally miss any.

  1. you can google the name of your car and year, and engine number

    for a rebuilt kit

go to advancedauto.com and other online sites to look at what's avaliable

even ebay might sell the entire kit in one go

    buy a engine rebuild manuel

  2. sadly i dont know what any of that means

  3. well it depends on if you have a v8 v6 or a 4 cylinder but I will give you a list just remember if it's an 8 then you need 8 sets of rings and rod bearings if it's a 6 you would only need 6 . here goes bare block nothing on it.

Not including electronics it varies from every manufacture this is a list just to build the engine.

top engine head gasket set complete this would be head gasket rocker arm cover gaskets water pump gaskets oil pan gasket fuel pump gasket on older cars most full gasket sets will come with this.

head bolts if it has tork to yieled bolts must be replaced can't be reused.

    Intake manifold with attaching bolts

head with valves and valve seats unless a machine shop will do the heads, cheaper to buy rebuilt heads.

    cam and cam bearings

    crank and crank bearing

    rods and rod bearings

Pistons and wrist pins and Circlips if used on that motor.

    rings

    main bolts for crank

    rod bolts

timing chain and timing chain crank gear with bolt and oil splash guard

key-way for both the crank and cam

    timing cover and bolts

    thermostat housing and thermostat gasket

speedy sleeve for crank front and rear if crank has a grove worn in the sealing surface.

harmonic balance and nut and bolt

oil pan dip stick tube with dip stick

    oil pan and bolts

    water pump

    distributor if equipped.

lock strap and bolt for distributor

    oil galley plugs threaded

    freeze plugs

    spark plugs

    plug wires

    caburator and bolts

    PVC valve

    egr valve

    air cleaner and air filter

water bypass hose if it has one for water pump

    hose clamps

    heater hoses

    radiator hose

a radiator that has been rodded out

    raditor cap

    hope that helps.

fly wheel if standard flex plate if automatic

  4. oil pump, oil pan, water pump, time chain/chains, harmonic balancer, power steering pump, alternator, heads, headers, gaskets, fuel pump, pulleys, fan belts, rockers, lifters, pushrods, camshaft, crankshaft, pistons, piston rings, Intake manifold, carborator, airfilter, valves, valve covers, fan, radiator, and tools.

I think I got everything.  If you miss something you will notice it when you are constructing the engine.

  5. Type of engine is helpful.

    Assuming a chevy v-8 Or a boss 429...

I am going through the process to get an idea of things like lubes, torque wrenches and such.

Have the block cleaned and checked for cracks. Honed or bored.

pick up a complete overhaul gasket set.

Have the heads cleaned and checked for cracks. Valve guides knurled

Valve seats done. Install the valves, guide seals, springs, and keepers.

    Crankshaft polished.

Replace the cam bearings, frost plugs, cam and oil tube plugs.

Run a bottoming tap through all the bolt holes.

Install the main bearings (plastigage for bearing clearance), seal, crankshaft, main caps and bolts. Lube the crankshaft with motor honey or such. You will be rotating the crankshaft and want it lubed. Torque the bolts. Rotate the crank, disassemble it and check the bearings for excessive scratches (I did say polish the crank).

Put the rings in the block and check for ring gap with the feeler gage.

Assemble the pistons, rods (rod bolts and nuts), wrist pins (some engines use keepers to hold the wrist pin), rings, rod bearings and caps.

Lube the walls use the ring compressor to compress to install the piston. Tap them in with a block of wood or a hammer handle. Do not let the rod bolts touch the crank  (rubber hose on the rod bolts). Torque the rods (plactigage for clearance). Disassemble and check for scratched bearings.

Install the heads and torque the bolts.

Install the cam, cam gear  (bolts) and crank gears and key, timing chain, thrust bushing (for manual transmission), oil pump timing chain cover oil pan. Some engines have overhead cam, timing belt and idler pulleys, crank sensor...

Install the lifters, push rods, rocker arms, valve covers. water pump intake manifold, goose neck thermostat, distributer and shaft. starter, flywheel.

That should cover most of it...

  6. we talking about mini bike or motor cycle or 350 or 400 and 327 and 302 305 390 429  440 442 396 398 289 260 460 or jet engine

  7. cylinder heads

pistions (wrist pins will come included in a good brand)

    rings

    rod, main and cam bearings

    piston rods

    oil pump

    oil pump shaft

    oil pickup tube

    oil pan

    engine overhaul gasket set

    freeze plugs

    cam shaft

    crank shaft

    timing gears and chain

    exhaust and intake valves

    valve springs

    push rods
