i have birth control in the form of a spiral thing (don't know the name in english) and am not supposed to get my period. however three years later (these things last five years), my periods are so often it's more a question of when do i NOT have my period. the dull backaches are also there, but there are no other strange things happening such as funky discharge or anything. i'm not a fan of running to the doctor but is this a case of GO! ? please if any women have any idea if this has something to do with the duration of the contraceptive or anything, please let me know!

  1. go, maybe it came dislodged?

  2. straight up girl,

go to the doctor or gyno.

  3. you should really go to the doctor. i think you're using an intrauterine device? and it might be that or something else like a polyp or myoma in your uterus. so you really have to have that checked. besides, bleeding causes other complications such as iron deficiency anemia. you might even need to have blood transfusion if your hemoglobin gets too low from such bleeding. you should really have it checked. take care.

  4. Get yourself to a doctor, speedy-quick.

My guess is that either your "spiral thing" has become a problem itself (I'm not sure this is very likely), or more likely that you're developing fibroids in your uterus that are becoming a problem.

Fibroids are common enough in women (about 30% of women have at least a few small ones before they're 30 years old), but if they grow large or too mumerous, they can cause exactly the sort of "why don't my periods ever stop?"  bleeding that you're describing.

By itself, this is really more of a nuisance than a serious problem, but it *can* become serious, and there are other serious (though far less common) reasons for that kind of bleeding.   None of them are normal, and *all* of them should be checked for by a competent gynecologist with good labs/technicians at his/her disposal.
