I'm about to be put back on fluoxetine(in other words prozac) and Since I just had a baby some of my family members are concerned it will cause me to gain weight. SO my question is, will it really cause me to gain weight? I've tried looking it up and had no luck.

It doesn't really say weight GAIN but it does say weight changes.  Just scroll down to the side effects and you can read all of them.

  2. Would you rather be healthy and chubby, or thin and insane?

  3. Gaining weight is not a typical side-effect of Prozac, but some people have atypical reactions...if you are breast feeding it is IMPERATIVE that you NOT go back on that med...it can harm your baby.

Tell your family members to mind their own business--you should be getting your advice from your physician, and NO ONE ELSE!

New moms ride roller-coaster hormone levels as it is, which very often manifests as post-partum depression, and there is nothing wrong with using Prozac under the care of your doctor to treat the condition.

It is nobody's business but yours if you gain weight, lose weight or stay the same weight.

Trust in your doctor, ask him/her questions when you need more information, and make your own informed decisions.  If your family wants to help out, tell them to change the baby's diaper!

  4. i would be more concerned if you are going to breast feed. this is excreted in breast milk.
