  1. Ask her what she did as a child, what humorous events she recalls, who she played with as a little girl, how she views the world now, how the town has changed...endless questions!

Then, you have started a quest...into genealogy!

(I note the trolls are about.)

  2. What influenced her to start a business? Since she is your grand-mom, this means she was born before the woman's revolution right? So you can ask how that changed her ideas of how to run her life. Depending on when she started her restaurant (when she had kids, before that or after her grandkids were born) you can ask why she did at that stage and if the location was a hindrance or a blessing. (Is she from that area? Did she move back there? Did she just throw a dart at a map to decide?) Also how did people react to her opening & running it?  Did her ethnic background help or hinder it?  (Not to mean anything by it, but for example to open a non-kosher hot dog stand in a Orthodox Hebrew neighborhood would present some problems.Just like opening a beef burger joint in a Hindu neighborhood would.) How did she tailor the recipes she chose for her audience?  How has the local economy/tourist trade, or lack there of, helped her?

    I hope this helps you.

  3. you can ask her how long ago she started business in Kansas or why she decided to work there since there not alot up there. you can ask her about her regular customers and strange things that happened at her restaurant.

  4. if you could relocate your restaurant to any states, which states would you go to?

If you were to start from day 1 again, what would you change?

  5. What is genealogy?  How do you get people to follow directions on internet message boards?

  6. Idea questions:

What challenges have you faced in owning your restaurant?

What have you learned from owning a restaurant that you didn't know before?

What strategies have you used to make your buisiness successful?

What are some mistakes you've made with your buisiness?

What do you do to draw in more customers?

What do you do to keep the customers you have comming back?

Where would you like to see your restaurant go in the future?

What was your original vision when you opened your restaurant?

What do you hope will become of your restaurant after you are gone?

If you had a bigger buget to expand your buisiness, what would you do?

What gave you the idea to start a restaurant in the first place?

    Why here?

What do you want your customers to think and feel when they leave your restaurant?

Is there any ambitions you had besides owning a restaurant?

    What inspired your menu items?

What is your greatest regret about how your buisiness has gone, or do you have any regrets at all?

These are just a few ideas I brainstormed. Hope this helps, and God bless!
