  1. If you go to Hawaii, def do the NCL-America cruise fro the week [on board the Pride of America] it works out MUCH cheaper per day, plus you get to experience all of the islands.

  2. ok. Well depending on where youre from there have been alot of murders happening in Mexico to tourists. However if you're willing to go, Cabo Sans Lucas is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun.

Hawaii is also very nice but if you go try to avoid Honolulu. I say this because it's just like a big city. I went to Maui and it is very nice. I know this isn't answering which one is better but i thought i'd give you two options of two great places.

Here's some links to websites to find out more about visiting these places:

  3. Both are good, depending on your budget and interests.

Personally I like Hawaii more - it's more tropical and luxurious, but it is far more expensive.

Another idea would be to take a cruise to either location - it's generally works out cheaper per day, and you get a brief taste of each location.

  4. Funny you should ask.... I'm a longtime Mexico traveler, and I just got back from my first vacation in Hawaii.

    To me, Mexico wins hands-down.

I found Hawaii to be overpriced and overrated. Unfortunately, I stayed in Honolulu. It's a nice enough city, but since I live in Miami and used to live in San Diego, to me it was pretty much like what I'm used to in the States in terms of lushness and beauty. I did a tour around Oahu as well, but largely I found that Mexico has just as much, if not more, to offer in terms of beauty.

Mexico is a world apart. If it's your first trip, look for an all-inclusive resort. I've traveled all over Mexico. I'd recommend Huatulco, Itxapa or Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific side, or a resort south of Cancun (not Cancun proper) on the Caribbean side. The all-inclusiveness of the resort will make it very easy for you to relax and enjoy.

    Why I like Mexico better:

-Better service, I find the people just much friendlier and eager to please.

-Better prices, way, way cheaper than Hawaii.

-Better food, nearly everything in Hawaii (except for some fruit) is imported into the island, which is why things are more expensive. In Mexico, however, the fruits and vegetables are mostly local, so they're fresh and plentiful. And Mexican cuisine is greatly varied.

-Just as beautiful, if you go south (farther south than Cabo San Lucas), you'll find the foliage just as tropical as Hawaii.

-Distance, even from California, it's still a 5-plus hour flight to Honolulu. Depending on where you're coming from, it's probably faster and cheaper to fly to Mexico.

-Activities, granted there's lots to do in Hawaii, but I found that it was all pretty expensive. You could do similar things - snorkel, sportsfishing, horseback riding, hiking, shopping, tours, for less in Mexico. Plus, if you get bored in your city, you can rent a car and venture into neighboring pueblos.

There's my humble opinion. All in all, I'm glad that I've seen Hawaii, but my next vacation will definitely be in Mexico.
