A "gry" is an old English measure for length, defined as 1/10 of a line, where "line" is another old English measure for length, defined as 1/12 inch. A common measure for length in the publishing business is a "point", defined as 1/72 inch. What is an area of 0.85 gry2 in terms of points squared

  1. 1 gry = 1/120 inch

    1 gry^2 = (1/120in)^2=1/14,400 in^2

    0.85gry^2=5.9x10^-5 in^2

    1pt=1/72 in

    1pt^2=1.93x10^-4 in^2

    or 1 in^2=5184 pt^2

    so 0.85 gry^2=5.9x10^-5 in^2x5184pt^2/in^2=0.306 pt^2
