  1. I would say that the evidence of not paying attention in class is apparent in the way you wrote your question.  Why would this even be a true debate, why are you in class? to learn, how do you learn by listening and understanding the material.  So unless you are in a music class, and the teacher is loading your i pod with specific music then the answer is no, leave them in your locker along with your cell phone, both turned off.

  2. As long as they don't have headphones on during class, it's not a problem. I honestly can't understand why anyone would think it was acceptable to listen to music when they're in class. If you don't think it's worth your time to pay attention, then don't come to class!

On the other hand, if someone was sitting in the back of the room with headphones on, not disturbing or distracting anyone, it might be more disruptive to the class for the instructor to say something, than to just ignore them.

  3. no, leave the ipods at home

  4. Yes, It think if we want to we can, Its our future and if we decide not to learn then its OUR problem.

  5. Seriously, leave 'em at home.  People don't realize that others can hear their music from the earphones.  On top of that, it's rather disrespectful toward a professor.  The professors shouldn't have to look at you and realize you could give two shakes less about what they are trying to relay to you, because your music is oh so important to you.

Yes, if you could care less about a class, by all means, get a C, or a D in the class, but if you have any respect for the professor, and your peers around you, put the d**n Ipod in your backpack and wait a couple hours to listen to it.  It's not that difficult, and though the present generation says otherwise, it's the least you can do politeness-wise.

  6. when you are in class, you should listen to what it's going on. how would you feel if you had to speak in front of a group of people, and half of them would have their headphones on and paying no attention whatsoever?

it's disrespectful for the teacher, and your colleagues. -x-Mell-x- says it's her future and it's up to her to decide etc... except, at that age school helps you experience and find out stuff that'll later help you in your decisions. so leave the iPods for the other 10 hours of the day when you can (ab)use them.

  7. You are in a class to learn. You are not there to listen to music.

  8. Hi Tasha, I think it's fine if you want to bring in i pods it's your choise

  9. Not to bring them, but to listen to them during class, yes.  The purpose of class is to learn, not listen to music or watch videos.  Even though the person is wearing headphones, it is distracting to those around them who see what is going on.  It is also disrespectful to the teacher who is trying to do their job and provide information to you so you can have a better life.

  10. The problem with deciding "your future" and "your life" is that we are all too immature from the ageof 8-17 and for some even above that. this is why alcohol has to be banned and weed cant be legal because WE CANNOT JUST GROW UP! I COMPLETLY disagree with ipods being in school infact teachers should be able to step on them because they shouldnt even be in school. YOUR in school to LEARN wake up maybe ?!? whether you like it or not we all have to grow up sometime and we will be the ones running the country how fast do you think we'd all die if we were running the country now? in 1 day .
