My sister is 12 and has pretty consistent dreams and would like to know the meaning of them. They are usually nightmares about school, but aren't so scary you wake up. Normally, the scary part is a dangerous or awkward location or having teachers she dislikes as teachers. The people in her dreams are normally the ones who hang out with her but they may act differently. For example, her crush smiles at her like he has a crush on her, instead of just laughing at something with her or 8th graders that her and her friends like to bother are suddenly more friendly than usual and hang out with them more. I didn't get many other details from her, except that the dreams usually has to do with class placement, which she is very worried about ( i dont know why, ha) and normally always have the same people in the classes.

The other dreams she was having where all located in some remote, i guess grassy country place. The one she had last night shocked her because apparently some tour guide...

  1. Why don't you take your sis to a child psychologist.

  2. Dreams cannot be easily figured out like many would have you believe. When a dream still feels real after the dream is over with, it means it's a night terror and not just a night mare which fades quickly when you wake up.

Did you know that playing video games up to one hour before bed time can actually give you more nightmares and night terrors? First thing, no video games for one and a half hour before going to bed.

Second, television often doesnt' help either. It's often putting thoughts into our heads that aren't healthy. Turn off tv a half hour before going to bed and do something pleasant wiht the time. Like talk about run things your family has done together. Like the time you all went to the park and nothing but good things happened.

Most often having small dreams like teachers you don't like teaching you just is the feeling of being out of control. When you are young, the adults have control over your lives and you don't have much say. It's frustrating and it comes out in dreams. Tell your sister that she has power in dreams, she can say and do anything she wants. She can tell the teachers she hates them and walk out of class! When i was young and learned i could do what i wanted in a dream, it helped give me power back to get out of them. It takes a bit of time, but go to bed saying that "i have the power to do what i want in a dream".

Again, the ghost dream just sounds like lack of control. Also that she feels no one is paying her much attention. No one is noticing a ghost is trying to kill her while everyone around her is acting normal. She needs more attention paid to her.. but by parents and not by siblings so much. Asking parents to give you more attention might seem hard, but almost always works. When parents say they need to work all those hours to get you all that fun stuff, you can tell them you don't care about all that fun stuff but woudl rather sit home alone without stuff and just have time wiht them. That normally gets a parent to listen and takes some pressure off them that society puts on them to give their kids everything.

In the end, there is no true dream guide. It's something that people put out to try to make money on. In reality, each dream means something different to each person. If i had a ghost dream it would mean something completely different from your sisters dream.

The best way to deal with night terrors are simply to hold someone till it finally starts to go away. They aren't fun to deal with. But if you sister learns to have power within her dreams, it will get a little bit better.

  3. dreams can be very vague and odd, but they are nothing more then chemical reactions in your brain that might cause you to "dream" of things you know and alter them in the process. So, they don't really mean anything. She shouldn't sleep in cold areas too, which is linked to cause bad dreams...It's really nothing to worry about.

Its fun to dream tho, it gives you a odd version a reality.

  4. Go to www.dreammoods.com You can interpret dreams there based on subject or topic and they make a lot of sense. Hope this helps!

  5. Your sister's dream about school are not that unusual. At her age, she is going from being a child to being a young lady, and she is feeling some insecurities about herself. She feels awkward in her dreams because that is the way she feels in real life. Our dreams have a way of taking worries that we have during our waking hours and making them ok in the dream (thus people at school being nicer or friendlier than they are in real life). She is worried about her outward appearance, what others will think about her, how she will do in school, whether she will be liked or not. This is a lot of pressure on a young lady.

The other dream about dead people hanging, the hotel and stuff just represents that a part of her life (middle school) is dead and over and she is moving on to new places (high school) in her life. She woke up scared because new things such as this are very scary and she isn't sure what to expect or how things will go.

You seem like a real supportive sister so just help her feel positive about herself.
