1. Yes, I think it's very sweet! :) Some americans ask silly questions but it's funny in a way!

Edit: I completely agree with ice100 so much truth in that! XD

  2. it makes me chuckle when they get confused and think England is the same thing as Britain and the UK

my girlfreind is American and she can ask some silly questions sometimes aswell, and it just makes me smile

    got to love them :-)

  3. Do you mean cute in the way thing Brits are for asking about the US. I'd say both countries have their fair share of idiots.

  4. No absolutely not, as Britain is not just england. I'd just think they were ignorant lol.

  5. Some of them make me smile.

Best ever question was something like:

' How many British Dollars are there in an American Dollar? Or do you guys now use American Dollars as your main currency?'

I can't blame them for not knowing the difference between Britain and the UK because I expect quite a few people here don't know the ins and outs either, but it does bug me when they ask a question about England and say 'British people answer only' - Britain is England, Scotland and Wales and British people are people from England, Northern Ireland (British or Irish), Scotland and Wales.

Also when people refer to a 'British accent' (WTF, there are hundreds =] )

  6. It depends what they're asking. Sometimes you get people asking things like "where is London" and you just think - you're sitting in front of one of the biggest information systems the world has ever known and you can't look that up for yourself!

That's about as cute as toothache!

  7. It depends what they ask. I've heard questions like "What's the currency over there?" or "Where's Scotland/Wales?", questions like that just makes me want to stick pencils up my nose..

Though if it's hearing them trying to pronouce some of the places in the UK (anything with ham or shire on the end) does make me smile :p

  8. I like America and the Americans very much but they often have no idea about Europe and what the difference is between England, the United Kingdom and Great Britain. A little homework on google would answer all their general questions and mean that the ones they asked were specific and sensible

  9. I know this question was meant only for the British, but I read the first two answers and wholeheartedly agree with both of them.

And when I see people asking about America, I sometimes want to absolutely kill Hollywood for painting such a ridiculous caricature of this country...then I stop and think and realize it's not so ridiculous as much as it is truthful. :P

Glad to know that we Yankees are loved, haha! :D

    Best regards,

EDIT: I've also read the other answers below mine, and I agree with them as well. :)

  10. when i first moved from England to Canada i would get asked such questions as:

have you met...the Queen, the Beatles?

do you have far to walk to the water pump and shared toilet?

do you have only one fireplace to heat your home?

why do you have an accent?, or worse still

    why do you talk funny?

    comments such as:

your country is so small and has lots of people it must be end to end houses with no open spaces..

believe me Americans are not the only people asking about England..

do i find then cute? cute? not if they are asking out of ignorance...

not if they are being condescending

i have a hard time with .... cute?

it implies immaturity ... i have no problem with anyone with a healthy curiosity and love of learning asking questions regardless of their nationality.
