  1. I have my sh*t filed right down, its nice you just have to get used to it. I ride all mountain and park &  found that i dont miss my sharp edges at all. You just have to ride a little differently and not rely on that sharp edge to turn.

  2. There is a noticeable difference.  You should be careful with tuning and de-tuning your edges.  Once upon a time, when I first started tuning my board at home, I sharpened my edges with my new file.  I went to the hill to try my newly tuned board and almost got slammed on my first turn.  The board hooked around so fast that it caught me by surprise.  I had to be very careful riding that day.

That is when I discovered de-tuning.  I de-tuned the edges about 5mm - a bit less than 1/4 inch - from the beginning of the effective edge of the board.  This solved the problem.

Some people who are totally into rails will de-tune the entire edge making it very difficult to do any carved turns in hard snow.  I suggest a bevel rather than de-tuning.

You can get the perfect feel for yourself if you tune your own board.  Have fun with it!
