Waiters and waitresses stop asking you if you want the "childrens menu"

When I went to lunch with my brother and my mom they asked me and my brother if we wanted childrens menus. I am 15 and he is 16. Isn't that a little ridiculous? The childrens menu said "only children 12 and under". They do this alot and same with some of my friends.... why? I know I don't look younger than my age and it would be wierd if most of my friends and I (all 15) looked 12. This is stupid.

  1. I think you need to be around thirteen. Yes this is rediculous. I am 15 (sixteen in august) and I am still offered/given a kids menu. When i order of of it they say im too old! it makes me mad sometimes. o ya (best answer would be greatly apreciated)

  2. They are having fun at your expense...don't respond with irritation...a simple "No thank you" is sufficient and looks good on you...your folks will see it as a true sign of maturity. You see maturity is judged by how well you take responsibility for your own behavior and its effect on others. In this case losing it over a stupid server joke would embarass your folks(effect others) and make them see you as still a child.

  3. lookin younger than ur age pays off for me cuz i can get on the bus for free. but wen it comes to girls i ave a really big problem

  4. i completely agree im 14 and pretty much every where i go they r like, do you want a kid's menu?  im like um no thanks, and i do look older than 12, so why do they ask?  no idea, but i think it happens to everyone.  but to answer your question you probably have to be in your 20s for them to be sure and not ask you if you want a kids menu.

  5. Oh hunny i know the feeling. I look young for my age and always have. what i did was just smile..look at the waiter and say i am sorry no kids will be joining us today. they got the hint. trust me..when you are older you will like looking younger. I just turned 32 and people ask me what college i go to.

  6. It is human nature as youngsters to get insulted when people perceive you as younger than your age.  And so to when a person is older they feel complimented when people see them and perceive them as much younger.

It is like when you are a young child, you can''t wait till you get older so you can do what your older sibling is permitted.  So take it as a compliment and not as an insult.

I am 67, and people can''t believe it.  Everyone thinks I am in my early 50's.    There will come a day when you will enjoy looking younger.

  7. I think they ask, Because It's polite to, and it's their job to make the custimer as happy as possibe, but it does seem strange, I wouldn't want the children's menu even if I was 9 Yrs old, but Either Way I don't think there gonna stop.

Does it make you happy when they give you the childs menu? of course it doesn't if you don't want it, but you can't stop what's being done, and it would be a little weird to complain to the manager, if that was one of the tings you we're to ask here.

well Hope I made you understand a little bit better, oh ya,

and somtimes people don't have a huge appetite  or to small of a stomach, so they would prefer a smaller meal, like a childrens menu.

  8. Maybe they just don't quite know how old you are, or maybe they think that you don't want a large portion to eat, h**l I walk in with 4 kids 10 years and younger and they don't even ask me, I have to ask them for kids menu's wtf's up with that!

  9. when you look older

i was 9 when they stopped asking if i wanted the kid's menu. but that may have been because i was 6 feet tall then.

  10. Get over yourself. Wait staff doesn't have time to guess your age. If you don't want the children's menu, act like a mature person and say "no thank you." Some families yell if a server doesn't offer a kiddie discount when it's deserved.

It's just like the senior citizen deal: if old people don't get offered the discount, they raise h**l. But if you offer it to the wrong person, they go crazy that you thought they were old. The staff is protecting themselves from being screamed at. When you're old enough to get a job to support your attitude, you'll understand.

Trust me, it seems more stupid when you are a grown woman who doesn't want get fat, but you're not allowed to order from the 1/2 price, 1/2 size children's menu. That's because they offer the low price to bring in full-paying parents, not to be kind to small eaters.

  11. maybe the waiters were jerks, that is really weird.

  12. Thats stupid.....

whereas im 13, and they give me the adult menu without even looking at me....

  13. lol. i would tell the manager that their staff is trying to rip off the company by giving older people childrens menus.
