  1. It's probably cheaper to get a chequing acct.

But money orders are bought from a bank or post office or western union office

You give the money plus the fee, they give you something that looks like a cheque that has the amount of money you requested on it, you fill in the recipient, and in the notation area, what it was for

You keep the extra copy and mail the money order with your bill to the recipient.

Only do this for people or firms you trust...NO REFUNDS FOR FRAUD.

  2. Money orders are on the same basis as a check. YOu go to the post office or grocery store (or any other of the many places that sell them) and tell them you want a money order for a certain amount. There is a small fee that varies from place to place, usually around $1. Once you have the money order, you have to fill it out with the name of the recipient and your name and address. Then mail it or give it to the person or place that you need to submit it to.  It is an easy process and most places you purchase them will help you out if you have any other questions.

  3. It depends what country you are in. Most countries the banks will provide a money order. Some bank accounts will provide a free money order or several a month.  Some countries a post office may provide a money order, or a credit union.

The advantage of a money order over cash is that there is some proof you have paid.

Money orders are available to people who do not have a checking account, but where one has a checking account it is usually less costly to use a check. The problem may be in getting someone to accept your check.

In effect a money order is much the same as a check but the money is guaranteed to be there by the bank rather than by you.

  4. Go to the post office.  They sell money orders there.
