  1. not as a last

  2. you should not be fasting if u are ill or on medication ...

  3. Prophet used to fast the most in the month of Shaban after Ramadaan.  He would fast as if he'd never stop fasting in the whole month, and then he used to stop fasting as if he won't fast anymore in the month, but he would again fast... and the like.

so you can fast atleast a few days in this month of Shaban, which might help you spiritually and also help you schedule/plan ahead of time.

you can do shoppings and groceries from before (whatever is possible, for ramadaan and eid), that way you would have more time for worship in ramadaan.

are you going to make your own iftaar? or would you be going to the masjid?  you might wanna find out what kinds of food you want for iftar, suhr and rest of the night.

you can read up loads about ramadaan, so you are prepared before it comes.  many people start to really think about ramadaan when they are forced to fast ramadan 1st, and they wish they didn't have to.  then they only start to be aware of things in the middle of the month, and by the time they are all prepared for worship, alas the month is (almost)over. so you don't wanna do this inshallah.  know the blessings of the first 10 days, middle 10, and last 10.  plan what you'd like to memorise/read from qur'aan or dua' or hadith etc.  would you be going for taraweeh? night prayer?  may be you can practice praying the night prayer/tahajjud in the last 3rd of the night?

yes the more you educate yourself about things, the better you'd know about what you'd like, and what is possible for you.

    The ruling on medication is:

Using an Inhaler During for the Fasting Person

He is sick and has to take medicine during the day

What is the sickness which permits a fasting person to break his fast?

  4. Salam sister

MashaAllah good that you will be fasting this year, Alhumdulillah.

For the Sehar ( that is like break fast after which you will not be able to eat anything till iftar time, means magrib prayer) you can have, egg, minced meat cooked with tomatoes, rice, banana, milk. Just eat good. have carbohydrates as that keeps you heavy. drink lots of water.

Then the whole day u dont eat... pray, read Quran,

then comes the time when you prepare for Iftar..

you can have anything, like fruit Salad, Sandwiches, donuts, anything you like,,,,,,, then have dinner whenever u feel like.. some people eat dinner at the time of iftar only, depends on their appetite.

Hope its clear.. MashaAllah its so much fun in Ramadan,,, its indeed a blessing ~!

  5. would u please read that blog:

  6. First.. you should not start 2 weeks earlier as per advice of first responder, because it has never been taught this way by the prophet (pbuh). You can try fasting 1 or 2 days if you want as a test, but make sure you do before the last day of Shaaban as it's prohibited to fast that day.

If you can, arrange taking your meds between Maghreb prayer and Fajr prayer.

If you're sick and it will be difficult for you to fast, don't fast and accept God permission for you. And instead, feed a poor for each day you break during Ramadan.

    I hope this helps

  7. Congratulation sis, as this coming Ramadan; will be -inshaaAllah- the first for you

To my humble knowledge, Ramadan is a gift and a blessing from god to Muslims, so we try our best to get the utmost befits out of it.

Based on my own experience, the more I eat in -sohour- the more I get hungry during the day of fasting, so I usually eat less than moderate meal, be careful not to have some thing that will make you thirsty; like hot or salted kind of food, yogurt is ideal in -sohour- though.

If you are a  caffeine addict, be sure to have some coffee or tea after -souor, just like your normal breakfast. It is better to stop eating; about 15 minutes before -athan- alfajr-

At the time of -iftar- it is a very pleasant moment full of high spirituality, you fill like you manged to fulfill your fasting for the sake, merely; of Allah; and then you have your first drink or food, after a day of fasting, that's help me appreciate god's blessings of providing us with our needs, which we get used to have and enjoy without given it much thought, while it is really a blessing and a miracle

Ramadan is a month of intense course of worshiping and training for how to control our natural desires, for the sake of your creator.

*{O ye who believe! fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint. (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (should be made up for) from days later...}* (Al-Baqarah 2:183-184)

The key reason for fasting which is mentioned in these verses is to learn self- restraint. There are many aspects to this. The primary aspect is that we learn to hold back the fulfillment of our material desires until the right time and place. This lesson in itself if properly learned has a great transforming effect on all aspects of human life far beyond the effects on health.

Ultimately this ability to plan is expressed in our ability to sacrifice things in this life in order to achieve something better in the next life. Thus, giving of charity in the way of Allah is the definitive teaching of what is a good deed. The very conflict this ability brings between short term gains and long term gains is at the very centre of what being human is about. It is why we have to have free will.

How do we best prepare for Ramadan :

Fasting some days in Shaban, is definitely helping in setting ourselves for Ramadan.

Duaa- prayers to Allah (swt) to enable us getting the maximum benifts of this blessd month, it is like a market-place held for a month; whoevere manged to gain its profits; he is a winner, and vice- versa.

If you are taking some medications, during the day, then you should consult a Muslim doctor to advise you, or try -online- medical consultant from a Muslim doctors

Let us not turn it into an empty ritual, devoid of meaning, but let us long with all our hearts to become closer to Allah Almighty.
