I washed my dogs beds, which have the filling of woodchips.

without realizing it one bed, (they are like big pillows fro doggies) had a small hole in it and, it left small wood chips in the washing machine....no problem, I can vaccuum out, but, like a moron, I put them in the dryer, its a normal dryer, and has a pull out flilter from the top, d**n if all this wood chipping didnt come flyingout as i went to add different objects into the dryer.... I am talking alot of wood chips, ALOT!

SO do I take t he whole fricker apart and get all the wood chips out or jusrt keep running it with c**p towels and let the woodchips get stuck in the trap?

please I am one that love to fix things and if I have to take apart fine but dont lead me down the wrong way/

understand? thansk! and I appreciate!

  1. Yah, you'll need to vacuum it out.

There is also a concern with some chips getting into the dryer duct and causing a hole which would then blow lint all over the place.

  2. Time to go chip hunting with your paws or use the magic cleaner which eats dirt and stuff. You will need to put the hose deep into the vent to remove all the chips. You might have to spend a couple hundred dollars for an expert duct cleaner to come out and ensure your dryer and vent system is chip free. This will prevent your house from catching fire.

  3. you will have to take it apart and clean out all of the wood chips..if you leave them in there you are running a HIGH RISK of causing a fire

  4. Fling a little kerosene around 'til the wood chips are soaked. Then toss in a lighted match.

That'll soon get rid of 'em. :D

  5. just run it and watch the vent pipe. capture the chips that come out. take off duct pipe and capture chips from inside it. run again without  duct pipe and capture chips. return all captured chips to pillow. repeat untill pillow is full again. then you know its chip free inside. or just take it apart,. it doesnt hurt to do this regularly anyway!

  6. Clean the filter first and then run it again to see what happens.

As long as the chips haven't got into the drive mechanism it should be OK.

Failing that, it could be a complete strip down....................the dryer Blondie........not you

  7. Vacuum the dryer drum thoroughly, move the dryer out disconnected the vent duct, vacuum  wood chips inside the dryer outlet and as far as you can in the duct if they've gotten that far.  I wouldn't be that concerned with small wood chips as far as a fire hazard, I'm sure the lint in your dryer has a lower flashpoint than wood chips.
