He drinks lots of water and some tea through out the whole day. I bet he drinks a 16 oz bottle in 30 minutes and then he wants more to drink. I have also drasticaly modified his diet to include more fiber. Since using the e***a, about 4 hrs ago he has had more bowel movements with soft stool and diarheea. Before it was just liquid. I would assume that if this stool was part of the impacted stuff it would be alot harder instead of soft?...??.. I really don't know if the e***a has helped or it is because he has has Myralax in 2 days. What do you think???

  1. the water and myralax should help to soften his stool so its very possable that it is part of the inpacted. i would defently keep him drinking water as you said he has diarrhea now. good luck and glad things are moving

  2. I read your previous question also.  I would take your child to see another doctor.  This has gone on long enough, and I think your son's doctor is not taking it seriously enough.  Besides, at least a second opinion would settle your mind even if you get the same answer.  Please get one though.  Keep me updated.  garciajennifer@att.net

  3. I think you should see a doctor. I don't agree with enama's. If there is a blockage it will go to diahreah to get around it. You need to get him checked. There is a product at the pharmacy for constipation call Lactolose or somthing like that, there is a few different brands. It is used to soften. You don't just need fibre but rougage as well. You need to get a diet plan from the doctor

  4. personally, i go for green tea leaf, he has this and it will make him regular. also for fibre, lots of stone fruit and veges and mince for iron and protein. ☺

  5. Keep going on the Mira-lax it took 4 day with my son. I would say as long as he has been impacted that this is probably not the blockage. It is what comes before, and around the blockage. Not to be gross but he may even pass it without knowing it. When the Mira-lax is worked it way through everything will be soft and liquid and hard for him to control, your doctor should be called if that last longer and/ or told you how to cut the dosage down to not have explosions happen.

  6. Give him some coffee, tea, or hot cocoa as warm as he can drink it.  Warm drinks help your bowels move, so does caffine.   Usually with an impaction you can get ALOT of liquid that is just coming around the hard stool, without it coming out.  If he passes it, you will see it and know it.  Believe me.   Most of the time, medication won't do alot for it.  It will have to be removed by a nurse or doctor.   If you are trained by the provider you maybe able to do it.   Personally, I wouldn't because it is VERY easy to damage the r****m/bowel area where the stool is resting.

  7. I think your doctor is not doing enough to help your son according to your previous question. He may still have a high fecal impaction which is often preceded by diarrhea. The enemas may have softened the lower stools but there is a good chance very hard, large stool is higher up in the rectal vault. As it moves down, your son might be unable to pass it, in which case it will need to be removed manually. If his intestinal tract was full of f***s, as shown on the x-rays then he should have a large bowel movement. If this has occurred then he should be ok for now. If it hasn`t then he is still impacted and the colon will need to be emptied out. After-wards a proper diet and stool softener will need to be given on a regular basis to prevent future bowel problems and constipation.
