I feel like everything gets more dull as I get older. I'm only 15.. so I'm not even old, yet I still feel like this. 7th grade was my best year, and 8th grade wasnt so good but atleast it wasnt dull. Freshman year was the worst year of my life, and even though things got better, they never seem to get exciting anymore. This isnt depression, i've had it and know what it feels like and this isnt it. i just feel like everything loses its touch when you get older, nothing is as memorable or exciting or anything, why is this? does anyone else feel this way?

  1. why dont you at least wait until you get your driver's license before your start complaining about life.  I swear...kids these days have no patience.  it's the emo music.

  2. it will be okay. high school SUCKS! its probably the worst thing you will go through.

when you get into college you'll find yourself. and what you wanna do with your life.

do the best you can in high school and have fun.

    it will be okay girl.

  3. I think quite the opposite - life has more flavor and interest for me as I get older! I'm only 23, but it seems like I have new experiences and challenges in my life all the time that keep things interesting.

Middle school and high school can be a bit stale because of all the drama and teen angst. It just wears you down. What you need to do so that things don't seem so dull is get out and do new things and find new passions.

There are always new things to experience (go learn Italian, build something from scratch, take up jogging, sign up for swimming lessons, get a job, visit a new coffee shop) or change in your life (re-decorate your room, read a novel, start sewing your own clothes). Part of finding joy in life is getting out and finding joy in life! You have to work for happiness - it doesn't just happen.

There's nothing wrong with feeling like your life is a bit static or dull (we can't all be adventurers and people can't always be doing new things), but if it stays that way and prevents you from doing something about it, it may be linked to your psychological health and you may want to seek out some help.

Ever seen the movie American Beauty? The way you feel reminds me of that. The central character sees through the bullsh*t in his life and breaks the monotony of routine and creates some purpose and motivation in his life.

    Good luck!

  4. I completely understand, highschool is dull. I felt the same way.

But if you read a book, go to the library, draw art, write, or play a exciting game or join an acting class in your school it will entertain you when you are dull.

Just find something you like to do and occupy yourself. :)

  5. lol

Lifes great just dont sweat the small stuff.

theres plenty of things to be happy about, just look for the good in the world, not the bad. viewing the world optimistically makes life much more enjoyable. i must say though, the older you get, the more meaningful memories you have, more responsibilities follow, but the freedom you have is great.

  6. eh i know what you mean. i'm 15 and just had my freshman year as well except it was the best  year of my life. high school just pumped everything up. the drugs, boys, and high life are just more exciting.

but it is natural that one doesn't get as excited anymore. i'd like to think it's just that when you were little you were standing at a 2-3 feet perspective of the giant world. you were easily impressed and your knowledge of the meaning of the real world was shallow. it just takes a lot more now to get an adrenaline rush and get excited. remember counting down 3 months for christmas and what not? it's like that. now, chistmas creeps up on you and it's 19 days away. just remember all the things you fantasized about when you were little and wanted to do for your wedding, when you were a teenager, and at your prom? well now those things seem stupid. so i think the lesson is.. don't wait. obviously you had to wait for those things when you were a kid but never say like.. "oh i'll wait until my junior to do this.." or "it will be much easier when im set age"

fulfill these things as they come and as you want them and i believe you'll make the primary steps of a happy life.

enjoy high school. they're splendid years that should be cherished.

  7. I know how you feel. I guess inside of yourself you are my age. 50..lol I have more fun than you and I am 50. You need activities. find things to do. apparently you do not know what interests you so try what ever and if it doesn't work try something else. Other people do not make it happen for you. They just share the experience with you. You need to be there to participate. Stay away from the drugs.

  8. I THINK ITS DEPRESSION SWEETIE...

IVE BATTLED IT FOR A LONG TIME & I STILL DO, IM ONLY 20.

WHAT YOU COULD DO IS START KEEPING A JOURNAL...WRITE DOWN YOUR THOUGHTS...IT MIGHT HELP IF YOU LET THEM OUT.

  9. It wont get much better until you're clear of school and working. Then it will change, money, cars, party, boys etc. It will be worth waiting for.

  10. Wait until time passes.  Life give you random turns.  Some people have the best times of their life in hs, in college, as a parent, etc.  Just live life and don't worry so much.  And just make the most of your situation as long as you're in it.  What's the worst that's happen?
