Question:

This is just strange. Why is it that wearing a Hollister shirt suddenly makes me look, um, "gayer?"?

My friends keep telling me that one of the reasons I don't have a boyfriend is because g*y guys are afraid to approach me because I look and act..."straight." Because the only other g**s who are out in my area are flamers, people are always shocked to find out I am, in fact, g*y.

I ended up finding a friend's Hollister shirt in my closet this morning getting dressed, so I just wore it to school, even though I shun brand names. But I figure, whatever, it's just a shirt, and it fits me the same as every other one I own. Suddenly, everyone (including, um, a teacher) says I finally look...well, g*y. Just because I'm wearing a shirt that says "Hollister" on the front.

I think this is just plain weird. Why does one shirt make me look g*y while another doesn't? Is this some kind of secret brand for g**s, or something? Are there any other "g*y" brands I should know about? Or is this just a bunch of crock that only exists in my town of Nowhere, Florida?

  1. This is because a large portion of g*y teenage guys wear Hollister. It's pretty much everywhere.

Just like they wear a lot of Abercrombie & Fitch. Those are notorious g*y brands, even though some straight guys wear it.

(They are also, by the way, owned by the same company.)

  2. That must be in your area. Here in Los Angeles, CA I don't see any g*y guys wearing any shirt that says Hollister across the front.

Unless this is something brand new, like yesterday. Or maybe this is the shirt that young boys wear? I don't know, but I don't think it's code for g*y guys.

  3. Hmm, maybe I should start getting hollister shirts lol

  4. I'm surprised that a teacher would actually tell a student he looks g*y.

That said, there are no g*y brands.  Lots of kids wear Hollister -- it's a high school brand.  If you were my age and still wearing Hollister -- then yes, that might be considered g*y.  But no...Hollister is a cheaper version of Abercrombie & Fitch aimed at even younger people.

  5. Well it sounds like you might be in Jacksonville Florida or somewhere near because I live in Jacksonville and unfortunately there are some people here in Florida who are very close minded.People are slowly starting to be more open minded but,it still a slow process.People here think that anything like Hollister or Abercrombie is g*y because you will find your stereotypical g*y guys shopping there and working there. It's not really that it's g*y it's just people see what type of men shop there and associate it with g*y men.Don't worry people are dumb.
