I'm in the mid 12's for the 100m, best time for the 200m is 23 HOWEVER my 400m is 50 seconds and i'm just 16, does this mean i'll only be a 400 runner?

  1. NO. this only means you have slow start. but if you're looking to go into higher level running (Olympics) it is uncommon that a 400m runner will also be successful in the 100m. at that level of speed, a 400m runner's body and a 100m runner's body are pretty much different. that's why michael johnson was so remarkable. he could compete at both. like me (also 16) if i ever made it to the olympics i would probably not be a 400m runner. my 100 time is low 11's, my 200 is mid 23 and my 400m is high 53's to 54 seconds.

  2. i guess so which isn't a bad thing, you probably good at holding a fast pace for a while, but not going all out

  3. just keep practicing your starts on the blocks and have a friend drop a pan or something that has a really loud bang when it hits the ground and have your head down when it drops. this will help your reaction time.

  4. As opposed to a 100m or 200m man?

First, your 200m time seems as good as your 400 time.

Second, is it a big deal in which event you are better?

  5. uhhhhhh i dont kno... so yea

  6. To tell you the truth, I think the 400m is definitely your focus event, especially being only 16 and running a 50. However, this doesn't mean that it can be your ONLY race. You can be a 200m runner as well, but you have to get that 23 lower during your junior year. The 100m really isn't your race, so I suggest you leave it alone and deal with the 400/200 double.

    I hope I helped!
