This is my current surround sound system. Can you tell me if it is good or I need to get a better system?

It was a pass me down and i dont really know much about speaker specs so maybe you guys can help me out.

The receiver is a Sony STR-K502P and here are the specs:

The speakers and the subwoofer came with the receiver and they are the SS-MSP1 and SAWM-SP1 and here are the specs:

So is this setup outdated and in dire need of replacement or have they stood up to the test of time? Thanks a lot for the info!

Judging from the specs it sounds like you have a decent system....nothing great, but nothing terrible.

Between the speakers and the receiver, I would upgrade the speakers if anything. A 50 Watt subwoofer isn't that impressive in my books.....I would get something at least 150 watts RMS and with a low frequency extension of 20Hz or less.

If you like the way it sounds - keep it.  If you do not like it - get a new one.  

There are always better systems out there - for more, much more, and much much more money.
