This is my first time raising ducks, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I noticed today that my duck had these white strait things coming out of the top of his wings. Are those supposed to be there? They're usually hidden by his feathers though. He is a month and one week old so he is almost half way done growing in his feathers. The white things are not causing him any pain. He is healthy besides that. He is also very happy. Please be nice and thanks for answering!

By the way, please do not tell me to take him to the vet. I will, unless it's something normal. That's why I'm asking before I take him in.

  3. That definatly normal.

He is groing his adult feathers in. DOnt worrie. They reach that age that happend. They look adult at age 2-3 months. He will molt eventulay and grow prettu and flashy colored feathers.

  4. I've never raised ducks, but i raised chickens for years. these are new feathers, the hard white coating will fall off. They're fine. It is very important to wash their food and water containers every couple of days. Good luck. Birds are a good hobby, especially when your first young ones hatch!
