This is my first time raising quail and i would like some help please.

my quail keep pecking each other and the are getting bald spots from the pecking. and my 2 males keep fighting. ive seperated them so they stop but i want them to be in the same aviary and get along so they can breed with the females. so i would like some help on how to stop them from fighting and pecking each other. please help. thankyou

  1. Sounds like there needs to be more females so they won't fight over the ones you have.


  2. I bred button quail for a long time and have found it nearly impossible to keep two males together. They fight to show dominance over the females. Your best bet is to provide separate aviary's for them one male one female to each aviary. Otherwise the fight will escalate and eventually one male will kill the other. This is also true about female they too will fight the same way if giving the opportunity.

  3. The've established a pecking order... there is ONE bird at the top of the chain.... just like with chickens males will usually fight for the right to be on top.  They will either work it out, keep fighting, or the weaker one will get killed.
