Our baby corn snake finally presented himself and i got him out and was just letting him slyther around my hands and he feels cold to the touch. THis is my first snake and for the most part i am afraid of snakes, but my husband has always had ball pythons and i wanted one for my own and i figured i should start with something small. He didnt seem to mind me touching him though which is a good thing for me but I am apparently pretty parinoid about whether he is okay in his new tank

  1. Well  , it depends  , do you have a light for him ? Do you have a fountain / water fall , which could be changing the temperature , If you have like a water fall or fountain i would suggest taking it out , and if you don't have a light for him , i'd suggest getting one ; ) hope this helped = ) ~ carmelicious ~

  2. make sure it is under a heat lamp then it will be worm

  3. As long as he has a heat source (heat lamp or heating pad) then he is fine. when you set up the tank make sure the pad or lamp is only on one side of the tank so if he wants to bask he can, and if he wants to be in the cool he can, Also if you have one large shelter for it make sure it is half over the heat and half without the heat, b/c they like to hide out, but they dont always like to be in the hot or cold!

  4. Well if you have the correct lighting and temps.(includes heat lamps and heat light) then he should feel "cool" but snakes are cold-blooded animals.

Well what do you have in the tank? A picture would help a lot. But if you have done your research and did everything correctly then you should be just fine.

But congrats on your first snake! Hope you end up falling in love with him like I did with my snakes! Corn snakes are quite docile so there is really nothing to worry about, you should do fine with him =]

If you are still worry then here is link about corn snake... =]

Edit- Wow you did excellent on the tank! =] I would believe he should feel cool, and if you just picked him up from the heat pad then warm-ish. But congrats on your new snake!

  5. Well, don't forget that snakes are cold-blooded; their bodies don't generate heat.  So yeah it shouldn't be too surprising for you snake to feel cold.  If you're husband has had snakes that's something he proly would have picked up on.
