  1. You need to start feeding him milk, Tractor supply carrys a mix, find a "wet Nurse", or a goat yes a milking goat will work and he can survive off the milk.  Call your vet it's been a full day already?  He needs to be feed ASAP, best of luck.

    EDIT

My filly was taken from her dam at only 14 wks old due the the mares health, she's gonna be 5 yrs old in Sept and did great but I feed her Purnia pellets for foals and all the hay she wanted never let it run out, and of course water.  So U shouldn't have to supplement the milk for too long, but really try to find a goat.

  2. what i would do is get the horse used to u so u can bottle feed it or at least try to get it to eat something. i would go to a horse website.......any one of them might be able 2 help u. i kind of know some stuff about horses because we have a mare and a foal that is 6 months old. ummmm u could make a solution of warm milk and vitamins and put a little on ur finger and see if he will l**k it and go from there.

  3. He is 2 mos old so I am sure he has been drinking out of a bucket by now.

Some foals are weaned way early at 3 mos. and do fine.

They will be sad and dull for a few weeks.  Just get him drinking from the bucket and eating some pellet mash.

Go get some 'foal lac'  a horse formula.  It's dry and you mix with water.

    Follow the directions on it.

Give him a pan of milk 4 x a day at least...and out of reach of the  sire.

Grain (pelleted Mare and Foal)  should be wetted down for easy digestion. About *figuring how to measure this*....

scoop your hands in and cup them...1 of those wet down to start then after a week go to 2.

Sprinkle some dry Foal Lac on it!

All the hay he wants.  He should never run out. (He won't eat much though)

Call a vet and get some advice

*curious as to how the dam died*

edit:  two sites.  You may be able to pick and choose what you need from them.  most are for orphans at birth

edit: Mdoolittle...I spit my coke out on my screen thank you!

    LOL!!!!

I REALLY wanted to say something about the balls but hey....I just couldn't stop laughing!

    hahaha

Great..got that thought in my head for the rest of the day ROFLMAO

  4. Hello,

Well I agree upon the lactating goat.  Our neighbor used a goat to nurse his filly too.  You just need to find one that is lactating and give it a try.  It will be the easiest way for you.  I don't know what kind of pet supplies you have access to in the Philippines.

    What happened to the mother?

  5. I would contact your vet and ask how to feed it correctly and for some good suppliment/formula. If you are willing to spend the money you could buy or lease a horse whos filly or colt just died because the mother will adapt to your young horse as if it was her own. Definately contact your vet please it's the best advice anyone can give you. And about the story with it's father... that's normal but i was wondering why it's even still with it's father? good luck and i hope this helped a little. BEST WISHES =]

  6. try to feed him some oats and hay cuz our 2 mth foal is already eating oats and hay with his mom soo......... but also try to feed him milk from stores or you can ask your vet where to buy some good foal milk

    good luck!

  7. buckinfun - you're curious about how the dam died...I'm curious about how the baby lived after sucking on the daddy's balls....lol.

  8. I have to agree with Mdolittle- there is something wrong here. By rights, if that foal tried to nurse off a mature stallion, it should be either DEAD itself, or seriously injured enough that you need to think about euthanizing it. NO FOAL ever does that to a stallion, Danielle, because the stallion WOULD KILL IT. If you knew anything about horses, you'd know this.  I don't think this is a legitimate question.

  9. this website has everything you'll need to take care of the foal

i hope this helps you becasue i know how it fells i once had a hereford calf that i bottle fed for two weeks and then it got stuck in a swamp and the water was too cold so i couldnt save it i was devastated and cried for a few days. so good luck!!    mshorsecrazy03@yahoo.com email me if you have anymore questions.
