Im 21 and Ive completed one month with an IT company ( which is a product company)..

the company is starting a new product which is gonna be developed with new technology in the market while..the current product is gonna be scrapped up within a year...

SO in a year, we all will be shifted to working for the new product...

my thing is I myself want to shift in that technology right from now..

should I ask my CEO about that??? coz the immediate superior denied me for the shift..

I really want to shift into the new technology product and Im intrested in it...

  1. Going over your supervisor to request training for a new product is a bad idea.  You only have one month's experience with the current product and that product probably has a large base of customers that will still need support once the new product is introduced. Your skill set will be more valuable if you include the current product and learn the new one as it's rolled out. Your supervisor will also be more willing to promote you if you don't antagonize by going over his/her head.

  2. Don't go over your supervisor's head.

If you are going to shift to the new product within a year anyway, just wait it out.  But, remind your supervisor (when appropriate, don't harp on it) that you are interested in the new tech/product and that is where you prefer to be.

Meanwhile, educate yourself on the new tech.  Read up on it, take classes if possible, use the new product as a user, etc.  So, that when that opportunity arrives, you are ready and your boss is impressed at your preparedness.

  3. You have just spent a month in the company, and considering your age your overall experience would be low too. In that case, I donot suggest bypassing your immediate superior and talking to the CEO as it might not be the best idea.

However, if its a small company and you have access to the CEO, you can just express your interest during a general conversation with him at the coffee machine or lunch table. Thats what I would have done.
