He had been bought the swords three months earlier at Xmas. Surely some evidence of mental illness had presented then?

  1. i'm sorry for your case.!

but you shouldn't bought the swords. It's like digging out his own grave..

  2. It's such a shame for all involved. He should have had proper care. No one with any sense would buy swords for someone displaying signs of mental illness/ relapsing etc.

  3. Absolutely no idea, obviously his unfortunately misguided parents thought that it would make him happy.  I love that even though he is a paranoid schizophrenic, the caption in the article still goes on about him trawling the internet

  4. According to the BBC the evidence was present........"in the run up to his father's death, had been spending a considerable amount of time on the internet."

    Obvious innit

  5. With all the knife crime going on in this country why are these items even available to buy...

  6. Not necessarily.Sometimes with bi-polar types they can have a sudden swing.

Wonder what it meant by 'his father, a former soldier, had suffered considerable trauma in Northern Ireland which had had a lasting impact on the function of the family.' Is there more to this?

God, I'm beginning to sound like Dave now!Lol

  7. Sh*t that's V sad.

The kid looks utterly miserable and he has floating iris's. I can see he is mad without even ever knowing him.

Why on earth would any parent buy their son Swords - sane or not?

    Beyond belief really.

  8. hi stormy,

it is a sad case  but what is even sadder is the fact that despite knowing the extent of the young mans illness that he was not in the proper care.

  9. no that's just stupid

it's like buying an arsonist a lighter

  10. It was a very foolish thing to do and he has paid the ultimate price but there should be more care in the community it shouldn't be left to parents or carers to look after these people it should be professionals who know what they are doing and how to handle them, a very sad case for all concerned.

  11. Live by the sword ........ die by the sword

  12. No would not-maybe bought by someone outside the family!

  13. I agree with Mrs GC

  14. Knowing he has a mental illness, no, i would have not

  15. The way they keep saying he was a paranoid schizophrenic, he obviously had the diagnosis already for some time.

Of course most paranoid schizophrenics are not violent, so I can see the possibility that nobody saw this coming.  I don't know the young man's history at all.

Still, the demonic decorations in his room, combined with the paranoid schizophrenia, were not exactly a good sign.  I would not think it wise to provide him with weapons.

I won't presume to judge the situation with this little information, though.  It is very sad.
