in my garage, inside the windows, there is a "family" about 30 horseflies per window. Some are 2 inches long and others are nearly as big. It's really scary because i live with littler brothers and sisters and i have pets and stuff and i dont know how to get rid of them without being attached!!!! How should I get rid of them before something happens?! it needs to be safe!

  1. Close up the garage and go to the store and get a bug bomb.

Follow the directions and set it off in the garage, and close the door.

All bugs will die.  End of story.

  2. Buy a 3 pack of aerosol flea fogger, set off all three in the garage, the flies should be dead in about a hour.

  3. You need to bring this to the attention of your parents, first.  They need to bug-bomb the garage.  Meantime, keep all your pets and siblings out of the garage.

  4. I have two suggestions.

First is a hoover with a long hose and a brave soul.

They may not get sooked up all at once but it'll certainly make a dent in their population .

Or perhaps an old jam jar with a bit of "jam and hot water" mix . Hopefully, they are like wasps and can't resist the smell being circulated in the steam.

Then you just have to replace the lid while they are drunk on the sugar if they haven't drowned. Or possibly throw a light towel over the jar opening .

From the size of them, perhaps a pickling jar is a better size for the task.

Good luck from Gary in Perth

  5. tell your parents and if nobody can help you at the moment try to spray some bug killing spray like raid.

  6. get a huge can of raid and spray them

  7. Be careful with aerosol bug bombs, don't put more in the garage than is recommended on the container.  They can create an explosive atmosphere and a spark or pilot light could cause an explosion.  Read the directions, and if you are not an adult, get an adult to help you.  Horse flys only bite, not poisonous, but it hurts.
