  1. 1/8

  2. 5/8X2/3=5/24

  3. definitely 5/24

-- Clare had initially read 3/8, therefore, 5/8 remain. If she read 2/3 of the REST (that is of the 5/8 remaining) today, then there is 1/3 more from the REST  that remains unread.

So, the fraction she still needs to read is 1/3 of 5/8.

    The mathematical statement therefore is:

    1/3 x 5/8 = 5/24

  4. I think it's 5/24 of a magazine left.

  5. It's a long time since I've gone to school but I'm going old school

    1/8 or 3/8 to read

she read 3 out of 8

    leaving 5

    2/3=2 out of every 3

    only one 3 in 5

leaving 3/8 or is it 1/8

  6. 5/ 24

if clare read 3/8, then she has to read 5/8. If she has read 2/3 of 5/8, then she has 1/3 * 5/8 to read = 5/24.

  7. Yes it's 5/24.  Not that tricky.

You have to find the lowest common denominator for 3 and 8, which is 24.

    3/8 = 9/24

This means 15/24s of her magazine are unread

The next day she reads 2/3 of 15/24

which is 10/24, leaving 5/24 unread
