So, The past few weeks my familia and I have noticed that the staff is slacking.. We go there for a quick eat and they take FOREVER to get our ticket, to come back out after serving us, etc.

So, Finally, yesterday, after this had happened once again, the manager came by and asked me how it was. I told her, frankly "It pretty much sucks that the past few weeks i've came here, the servers have dicked around in the back instead of helping their customers."

And It's not like I'm just coming out of nowhere with this.

I've been going to El Chicos on a regular basis for YEARS. And all of a sudden, crappy servers.

So she asks if she can "take care of my ticket"

and I tell her this isn't about the TICKET, it's about you're crappy servers! I told her I refuse to come back while these servers are running around with their heads up their arses.

She looked offended, but i insisited on paying for the ticket.

Why would you offer a free meal for bad service?

Just, answer me that

  1. The reason she offered you a free meal is that you went there expecting good food and timely service, and the restaurant didn't meet your expectations. Since your expectations weren't met, the manager hoped to win you back by giving you a free meal. I bet that she will do her best to fix the problem as well, but that takes longer and most customers would not be satisfied if she said "I'll talk to them and make them work harder/ faster."

  2. I wouldnt offer you anything because you sound like you acted like a d**k.

But the reason she did that is so you would come back.

    The customer is always right.

  3. The manager probably thought offering a free meal would be enough to appease you and bring you back again.  She seems to be clueless about the wait staff.  Perhaps you can write a letter (or call) the owner.  Slow wait staff (for no reason) makes for bad business practices.  The owners have a lot more power than the manager and I hope they can fix this problem.

  4. orale guey

tu vas a ver a que esta noche es de terrorrrr

    ay oo ayooooooooooooooo

  5. To keep your coming back.  Good service is more important than quality, the customer is always right, ect.  It is how food service is ran, they want to keep the customer satisfied.

  6. You need to get a life if this is something that bothered you enough to write an essay about.

  7. i guess its just her way of making it up to u, but if your rude with her as well then your acting just like they are. and maybe make yourself look even worse... no offence

  8. So you can come back again!

And next time don't be rude to the manager, he/she was just trying to help.

Employees that have to serve customers like a store restaurant etc.

Don't like mean and cursing people and they will do anything to get rid of that person.

So be nice and they will connect with you well and see you as a pleasant customer or even as a friend

And they will go above and beyond for you.

Getting mad and swearing gets you nowhere

They are allowed to hang up on you or kick you out if you get to out of hand

  9. I wouldn't offer a free meal, but would talk to the servers about it. I mean, the worst that can happen is having to fire some people and hire some new people. This whole thing was a little bit confusing, but I think you should keep cehcking back to see if the service has changed. Until it has don't go frequently and keep notifying the manager. It's that simple.

(Is spanish your native language or something?? Just curious.)

  10. Maybe the word "free" attracts people to buy more food! Who knows :P

  11. In short she wanted to give you your meal free for your dedicated patronage. She probably realizes the service was bad, but at that moment for her...you were her main focus. She wanted to make  you happy and the only bargaining tool she had was offering you a free meal. Did you expect her to let you watch as she bawled out the staff? That my friend would have been very unprofessional of her. When a boss is correcting an employee or employees then it is better to do so behind closed doors and not in front of other employees and/or customers. If she did nothing even after you left and you return at a later date only to find the same kind of bad service...your alternative option is to leave and not go back. Forcing a business to closure for bad service. If you pass the word around that the restaurant has lousy service...chances are more people will choose a different restaurant. I hope this answers your question.

  12. As a manager, it is her responsibility to maintain customer satisfaction. Now, most customers that complain about bad service will not return unless something is done to compensate their poor experience at the restaurant. Ideally, a manager will not charge them for the meal in a gesture of apology and concern and the customer would leave, perhaps not satisfied, but not necessarily with the intention of never returning to the restaurant. If the manager offered nothing in return for a poor experience, she would risk the customer never coming back, not to mention the fact that the customer would discourage anyone they know from going there. Maybe one customer wouldn't make a difference, but business could be seriously effected if this happened with every customer with a problem. The alternative of firing the server on the spot without a warning would be unprofessional and an example of poor business ethics. I am sure the employee was told about the customer complaint and warned to do their job or they would be fired, or simply fired if they were trouble in the past.

I didn't read all the answers, but it seemed like so many people were awestruck by this "really confusing question", that I figured I'd spell it out.

  13. you did the right thing. this one time at a village inn (kind of like a dennys) my sister and i went and we got seated but 20 minutes later there was still no server. so we see these elderly couple get seated and not 10 seconds pass and they get served. i went up to the manager and told her wtf was up. she said she would take care of it and our meal would be free. i said f*****k that i would rather go to mcdonalds then to eat for free at this crappy place. i also told i would tell everybody i know not to come here cause of the service. i haven't stepped foot in that building ever since. so you did the right thing dont take bribes

  14. because then the person will be happy with their free meal and not get mad at you for bad service.

  15. Honestly, you are rude.

  16. She was probably trying to compensate for the problems you have had at the restaurant.

  17. Because that manager doesn't want to lose a customer. If you walked out of there with a free meal, it would (hopefully) make up for your previously bad experiences, and you would start to rebuild your respect for that restaurant again.

  18. i wouldve said ill be right back and go rip the servers a new one, then went back to ur table and said u took care of it, and asked if there was anything i could do, like take care of the ticket to make up for their c**p service.

  19. It's one of the first things the managers do to placate an angry upset customer. Everyone likes a free something. Its something they kinda teach you to do. That way you'll leave a little less upset because  you were 'taken care of'

You should give more specific reasons why the service was bad, like our drinks were empty, dishes needed to be prebussed, whatever. You can't just say they were slow. Some servers may have different eating times than others, or your family may eat faster.

And I'd like to point out that I hate customers who say that they're never going back. Just don't. Don't tell me about it! I really just want your money. Sorry that's a side rant of my own.

But really how are you going to tell if the service has improved if you don't go back?

  20. they are probaly giving you the free meal as if saying, "please come back soon" they dont want you to spread a bad word about them so in return a free meal? make sense?
